One of the most difficult aspects of becoming a paid blogger is building an audience. While anyone who knows their way around a computer can create and build a blog of videos, a vlog, and enter posts, building an audience requires that you provide value. It also requires that you engage in extensive promotion to get your content in front of people who will be interested in what you have to say. It is for this reason most bloggers fail. It is not because blogging is hard; it is because promoting a vlog requires a tremendous amount of effort.

With that said, those of you who provide value to your audience will have a much easier time. While there are hundreds of thousands of blogs out there all vying for people’s attention, the number of video blogs that actually provide value to their readers are few and far between. Given this, the easiest way to make your vlog stand out is to provide value. Assuming you are doing this, your second priority is to promote your vlog as much as possible.
Many professional video bloggers recommend a 30/70 ratio. Spend 30% of your time creating your video blog posts and 70% of your time promoting them. This means that if you spend 3 hours creating a post (which is not unreasonable if you are truly creating a post that provides value), you should spend 7 hours promoting it.
How To Promote a Video Blog
So, how do you promote a vlog you might ask? There are many ways to promote a vlog, but for the sake of brevity, we will focus on the methods that typically have the largest impact.
For starters, commenting on other people’s blogs and vlogs is a great way to get exposure. Assuming you are not leaving them SPAM, and are actively contributing to the conversation that is taking place in their comments section, blog comments can be a great way to get new audience members.
The second way you can build an audience is through guest posting. Guest posting involves creating content for someone else’s blog so you can get links back to your site and access to their audience. It is beyond the scope of this article to explain in detail how guest posting works; for now you simply need to understand that it is a highly effective form of promotion.
The last way you can promote your vlog involves using social media. Through the use of automated software programs, you can set up a Twitter account and have your software automatically start building followers. Further, you can set the program to send out tweets at random intervals. This makes it look like you active on Twitter, when in reality you only have to spend a couple minutes to set up the program. With that said, make sure you are providing value and not sending people SPAM.
While there are dozens of techniques for promoting your vlog, these are by far some of the most popular and effective forms of promotion. We highly recommend, however, that you research other methods and figure out which method is best for reaching your target audience.
